Job Description

EGM Securities Ltd 

 

Overall Purpose of Role:

Onboard clients for EGM Securities Ltd; both natural and legal/ in line with the Company's Customer Due Diligence Manual while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations

 

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring that all persons onboarded as clients for the Company; both natural and legal persons, meet the criteria set out under the Company's Customer Due Diligence Manual, the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, 2013, Guidelines on the Prevention of Money Laundering in the Capital Markets 2015, Prevention of Terrorism Regulations, 2013 and all other relevant internal and/or external policies and directives issued from time to time;
  • Ensuring that all persons onboarded as clients for the Company; both natural and legal persons, provide all relevant identification documents as required under the regulations and company policies and that the validity and accuracy of the details contained therein has been verified beyond reasonable doubts;
  • Ensuring proper documentation of all relevant identification documents for all clients;
  • Conducting relevant checks for individuals and identification documents on the KYC 6 Database and KRA PIN Checker among other systems to verify the authenticity and validity of documents;
  • Ensuring that all requests for approval of accounts are handled seamlessly and that requests for additional documents and/or information are communicated to the relevant sales persons without delay;
  • Ensuring that all requests for account opening by persons with adverse media and/or law enforcement history, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), and citizens of barred or high-risk countries are forwarded to the Head of Compliance for review and approval or otherwise;
  • Investigating high risk clients and reporting where necessary, including Politically Exposed Persons, and obtaining all necessary documentation to complete the client file
  • Timeously reporting any suspicions for money laundering and/or terrorism financing detected in the course of undertaking duties to the Head of Compliance; Maintaining absolute confidentiality regarding all the customer information acquired in the course of discharging duties and preventing access by or sharing of such information with unauthorised persons within or without the Company;
  • Acquiring the relevant market certifications within the timelines provided for under internal policies; and
  • Acquiring on an ongoing basis; the knowledge of all relevant Kenyan Capital Markets regulations and operations.

Required Knowledge, Qualifications and Experiences

At least 6 months of relevant working experience; experience in financial markets, banks or a CMA regulated entity would be an added advantage;

 

Accreditation with the Chartered institute for Securities and Investments under the Kenya Capital Markets Program would be an added advantage;

 

Must hold a relevant bachelor's degree
