Job Description

To strengthen our team, we are looking to hire an analyst for Japan. As a Vehicle Analyst in the Automotive team you will support the development and maintenance of detailed and up-to-date forecasts on the dynamics of the Japan light vehicle sales/production environment supporting the needs of top OEMs and Supplier clients.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Researching and analyzing the Japan vehicle production market and representing this scope of knowledge to clients in forecasts, custom reports and intelligence briefings.
  • Using specialized knowledge of the automotive market in Japan to enrich the S&P Global Mobility databases.
  • Understanding and applying S&P Global Mobility forecast methodologies; effectively utilizes S&P Global Mobility tools and data sources to form sound forecast conclusions; effectively utilize S&P Global Mobility databases; Supporting forecast assumptions with clients in a constructive manner.
  • Providing commentary with analysis and rationale supporting vehicle forecasting.
  • Networking with key contacts in the automotive market to validate data and exchange intelligence.
  • Ensuring that all services for which responsibility is held are produced and maintained at the highest quality levels and consistently delivered on a timely basis
  • Providing analytical support to clients both face to face and by phone.

Qualifications And Skills

  • The minimum requirement is a university undergraduate degree in business, economics or a form of mechanical/electrical engineering. Business and economics would be preferable.
  • A candidate should have 4-5 years of experience in the automotive industry at Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive component suppliers or OEMs. Other areas of experience could be in direct vehicle production forecasting activities for an automotive forecast/analysis firm or a consulting company focused on the automotive vertical.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken at a business level.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office to include expertise in Excel, fluency with Word and well-practiced in PowerPoint.
  • Above average communication skills to include writing, interpersonal and listening as well as presentation skills gained with large and small audiences.
  • Organizational skills that demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks and to effectively prioritize under pressure towards tight deadlines.
  • Strong analysis skills and the ability to assess and interpret information.
  • Strong database manipulation skills.
  • Flexibility and the ability to creatively problem-solve.
  • Well-developed relationship building skills.
