Overview

The retail payments team, which is responsible for delivering a seamless deposit and withdrawal experience for our customers while mitigating risk to the firm, is looking for a Director, Strategic Payment Initiatives to join our team. In this position, you will leverage in-depth payments and market knowledge to define our vendor strategy, conceptualize and drive new initiatives across Payment Operations and Product, and spearhead funding-as-a-service across the broader StoneX organization.

 

This is a very fast-paced and high-visibility role requiring excellent communication skills, understanding of the fintech and payments landscape, and a firm grasp on product and project management principles. You will report to the Head of Product, CRM and Payments, and have the chance to collaborate with teams across all areas of the business. The role will suit someone looking for a challenging and strategic role that will drive value and impact across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Alongside the Head of Product, CRM & Payments, develop and communicate a long-term strategy for payments.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer use cases, pain points, and needs through regular user interviews, feedback analysis, and data-driven insights.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs), establish benchmarks, and regularly analyze product performance and effectiveness, making data-driven decisions to improve the product, maximize success rates, and reduce costs.
  • Develop business cases to quantify the impact and achieve buy-in for new initiatives.
  • Spearhead the introduction and expansion of funding-as-a-service initiatives across the organization, exploring new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Oversee the end-to-end project management, ensuring timely and successful implementation while meeting all project objectives.
  • Demonstrate ability to influence end users and secure executive buy-in through business cases, credible knowledge, use of data, and persuasive influencing skills.
  • Facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation; take ownership of business and functional product requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience as in payments or as a product manager in a technology-driven company, with a track record of launching successful payments initiatives.
  • Proven experience in payment operations, vendor, and project management.
  • Deep working knowledge of the payments industry and landscape, including emerging trends and technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • A team player, with a demonstrated record of achieving alignment and business results across multiple teams who may have different goals.
