Data Engineer in our office in Amman 

Responsibilities 

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to support our data infrastructure 

• Develop and maintain data storage solutions, including data warehouses and databases 

• Implement and maintain data governance practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards 

• Work with data scientists, analysts, business stakeholders to understand their data needs and develop solutions to meet those needs from a data engineering perspective 

• Collaborate with other teams to integrate data from various sources into our data infrastructure 

• Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and accessibility through testing and monitoring 

• Document data processes and procedures to ensure they are repeatable and scalable 

• Keep up-to-date with emerging data technologies and techniques and make recommendations for their adoption 

Skills & Competencies 

• Demonstrated knowledge of Data Warehouse and Data Engineering Fundamentals (SQL, Relational databases, Star Schemas, Pipelines, cloud data technologies (Data Lake, Lakehouse,etc.)) 

• Strong programming skills in at least one language, such as Python, Java, or Scala 

• Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and data integration techniques 

• Understanding of data governance, data security, and data quality principles 

• Excellent presentation and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams 

• Robust knowledge of documentation and business process management tools & methodologies 

• Analytical mindset, with inquisitive nature 

Experience Requirements 

• Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git) 

• 2+ years of commercial experience as a Data Engineer, or a similar role in a mid-size or larger organization, preferably in the fintech or financial services domain 

• Knowledge/experience in broking, Forex or financial markets  

• Knowledge of Analytics best practices and statistical modelling is a plus
