Senior Data Engineer in our office in UK, London.

As a Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for working with, and on, data platforms to help spearhead the development of Equiti’s centralized data platform. The role will be tasked with delivering on the strategic roadmap for the data platform designed in tandem with the Chief Data Officer, Head of Data Engineering and Data Architect. You will collaborate with various stakeholders ranging from technical specialists to more business minded colleagues to ascertain requirements and scope out deliverables, ensuring scalable data solutions are built.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the end-to-end data platform, including data ingestion and processing while helping determine appropriate storage policies and access management processes
  • Deliver on the strategic roadmap for the data platform ensuring it aligns with the business goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design solutions that meet business needs
  • Implement and maintain data governance practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards
  • Oversee data quality and data integration processes to ensure accurate and reliable data
  • Monitor and optimize data platform performance, scalability, and availability
  • Evaluate and select appropriate services and components to support data integration, transformation, storage, and analytics needs, considering factors such as cost, security, and scalability
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in cloud and on-prem data services and data management best practices, providing recommendations on adopting new technologies and methodologies to enhance our data platform
  • Collaborate with external vendors, partners, and cloud technical support to resolve any platform-related issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers and database developers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful delivery of data platform initiatives
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and growth opportunities for team members
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, presenting insights and recommendations derived from data analysis

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in cloud data services and components (with experience in Azure technologies  including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics as an asset)
  • Experience in designing and implementing data architectures, data pipelines, and data models using cloud technologies
  • Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and data integration techniques
  • Solid understanding of data governance, data security, and data quality principles
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data requirements and translate them into scalable solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Azure certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, are a plus

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Professional experience working on, or owning a data platform
  • Experience as a Data Engineer, or a similar role in a mid-size or larger organization, preferably in the fintech or financial services domain
  • Experience in designing and implementing data architectures, data pipelines, and data models
  • Previous experience leading and managing a team of data engineers
  • Working experience in a scale-up business, with bonus of being within FinTech.
  • Knowledge/experience in broking, Forex or financial markets.
  • Experience in data API design.
