Head of Finance - Africa  in our office in Kenya

Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting and reporting function across the Africa region and ensure adherence to all accounting standards across all businesses and jurisdictions
  • Lead the monthly ledger close and reporting process for the Africa region, working closely with the Group Financial Controller and other stakeholders to develop the process into a mature, standardized function
  • Develop a strong control and substantiation function across the Africa region, and implement standardization and efficiency across local Finance team(s)
  • Ensure full compliance with local regulatory reporting requirements (e.g. daily segregation of client funds, monthly capital adequacy reporting, etc.)
  • Work closely with Group Finance on all stakeholder reporting requirements such as daily cash balances, daily FX exposures, management accounts, board packs, budgets, forecasts, and other reporting and ad-hoc requirements
  • Develop and mature the MI function for the Africa region, focusing on key and strategic KPIs across the business
  • Manage the annual external audit and statutory reporting for the Africa entities, including the preparation of all financial reports and information
  • Responsible for taxation oversight and compliance with relevant country laws
  • Work closely with Group and Country Finance teams on shared operational and strategic initiatives
  • Management of the Country Finance team(s) and continuous evaluation of structure for continual improvement of the function

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and management skills with the desire to lead and develop the Finance team
  • Record of accomplishment of success working in a fast paced business in a period of rapid growth
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting (IFRS) skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a control mindset is a must for this role
  • High professional standards, questioning nature and ready to challenge where necessary

Experience Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant with minimum 7 years PQE
  • Financial services experience, ideally in a brokerage will be highly regarded
  • Demonstratable SAP (or other ERP) experience will be highly regarded
  • Audit background will be highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of multi-currency and foreign exchange is desirable
