BidFX is building a global team of highly competent individuals in the areas of Infrastructure, Application and Client Services. You will be based in Singapore and provide follow-the-sun support alongside your Infrastructure Team colleagues based in London, New York and Sydney. 

We are looking for a candidate with DBA experience, but also willingness to assist colleagues in other regions with platform and network issues where they are able to.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting BidFX’s databases, on-premise data centres, networks and platforms, plus cloud services during APAC working hours, escalating to colleagues in other regions where necessary.

  • Jointly responsible for the hosted database services, server architecture and systems administration, which is currently CentOS running on Dell hardware.

  • Supporting your colleagues in other regions availability, security and continued operations of BidFX’s global network where your expertise and experience allows.

  • Ensure efficient deployment and standard configuration management through automation in both the private and public clouds.

  • Monitor databases, troubleshoot issues and handle incident escalations (occasionally out-of-hours).

  • Deploy database releases and promote production change management processes / procedures.

  • Interface with all levels of the business and constantly strive to achieve total internal customer satisfaction.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in database administration / IT infrastructure and perhaps, more recently, modern cloud technology.

  • Experience of MariaDB / MySQL on Linux.

  • Database installations, backups, restores and replication.

  • Good working knowledge of shell scripting and performance tuning.

  • Knowledge of IT security and highly available, fault tolerant systems.

  • GCP experience / interest in cloud technology.

  • Knowledge of Rest APIs, Git, PKI and SSL certificates, RedHat/Fedora, DNS, Mail, LDAP and kernel-level debugging is desirable.

  • Experience in any network technologies such as Arista switches, Fortinet firewalls, Cisco routing and switching products, Juniper SRX, A10 Load Balancers, routing protocols and network virtualization would be an advantage.

  • Knowledge to assist with occasional basic local desktop support issues.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Approachable and a team player.

  • Self-motivated, organised, adaptable and a quick learner.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Experience of working in the financial sector could also be beneficial.
